Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi has etched his name into Premier League history by becoming the first Nigerian player to feature in all 38 league matchdays for two separate seasons.
The 29-year-old achieved this remarkable feat during Fulham’s final game of the 2024/25 campaign, a 2–0 loss to Manchester City at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi came on in the 61st minute for Harry Wilson and still managed to make an impact, completing 22 passes at a 92% accuracy rate, winning two of his three dribbles, and registering one interception and one tackle in his brief cameo.
This season marks the second time Iwobi has played in every Premier League match, having first accomplished the milestone in the 2022/23 season.
By doing so again this term, he becomes the only Nigerian to appear in all 38 games in two different seasons a testament to his consistency, fitness, and importance to his team.
Other Nigerians who have featured in all 38 games of a Premier League season include former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo (2006/07), Victor Moses (2011/12), and Wilfred Ndidi (2019/20), but none had done it more than once.
Beyond just showing up, Iwobi enjoyed an impressive individual campaign.
Operating as a key cog in Marco Silva’s midfield, the Super Eagles star tallied nine goals and six assists in the 2024/25 season, his most productive in England’s top flight to date.
Despite a promising start to the season, Fulham couldn’t maintain their momentum and finished 12th in the Premier League table with 54 points.
Iwobi, however, was one of the bright spots in a season of mixed results for the London club.
As the Super Eagles prepare for World Cup qualifiers, Iwobi’s form and reliability will be a huge asset.
For now, he can take pride in a history-making campaign that reinforces his status as one of Nigeria’s most consistent exports in the Premier League era.
