Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s struggles in the qualifying rounds.

The Super Eagles have yet to secure a win, with three draws and a loss to the Benin Republic leaving them in a precarious position.

The team currently sits fifth in their group, with only three points out of a possible twelve. Iwobi acknowledges the challenges but remains hopeful.

“I feel like we still have a chance,” Iwobi said. “It’s everyone’s dream to play at the World Cup. I’ve been fortunate to experience it, and I believe we can still make it. However, we’ve made things hard for ourselves.”

Teammate Ola Aina is equally confident, not only in the team’s ability to qualify but also in their potential to go far in the tournament.

“We will be there, trust me,” Aina stated. “I believe we have the squad to reach the semifinals. Our team is so talented, and I feel like we can achieve something special.”
