Spanish La Liga side Girona FC officially announced signing Ivory Coast international Seydou Doumbia coming from Sporting Lisbon.
Doumbia successfully won the Portuguese League Cup with Sporting, three Russian League titles, two Russian Cups and one Russian Super Cup with CSKA Moscow, in addition to one Swiss League title and one Swiss Cup with Basel.
He was also named Footballer of the Year in Russia two times in 2011 and 2014.
After joining AS Roma from CSKA Moscow in the 2015 winter transfer window, Doumbia failed to make an impact with the Italian side during his short stint, scoring just two goals in 13 appearances.
The 28-year-old striker was then loaned out to his previous club, CSKA Moscow, before joining Newcastle United on loan and then loaned again to Swiss club Basel in the summer of 2016.
One season later, when his loan ended, Doumbia signed a new loan deal with Sporting Lisbon who later made his move permanent in early 2018.
During the 2017/18 season, the Ivorian made a total of 29 appearances with the Portuguese club in all competitions and managed to score eight goals, mostly in the league, and made two assists.
On an international level, the striker made 32 appearances with Ivory Coast scoring eight goals in addition to winning the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
The experienced forward will be playing for Girona for three years according to his new contract.
