Azeez Solanke ended the dominance of Egypt in the boys singles event of the ITTF African Junior and Cadet Championship in Ghana.
On Saturday, Solanke won the junior boys’ singles title after defeating Egyptian Marwan Abdelwahab (13-11, 4-11, 10-12, 11-5, 13-11, 11-6).
He also partnered Jamiu Ayanwale to claim the junior boys doubles gold after overcoming the pair of Gawad El-Herazy and Marwan Abdelwahab (11-8, 11-7, 11-6).
Solanke added the junior boys’ team event to his accolades, while in the boys’ Cadet singles, Taiwo Mati won gold at the expense of Jamiu Ayanwale, (11-8, 11-4, 11-9, 11-8).
However, in the battle for the Under 21 Men’s Gold, Emmanuel Augustine lost to Egypt’s Mahmoud Helmy (11-1, 8-11, 14-12, 11-6, 11-2).
