June 10 was a black day in Uyo on following the disappointing display of the Super Eagles in the 2-0 defeat to South Africa in a 2019 Afcon qualifying match.
After the post match presser, expectedly gloom followed as the players returned to their camp with hanging shoulders and crestfallen morale.
Only a few were courageous enough to apologize for the defeat or letting the fans down and what-not.
Captain, Onazi Ogenyi tweeted: “Sad about the result yesterday, we win and we loose what matters is to learn from our mistakes and become better as a team. 🇳🇬”

The team’s official official twitter handle, perhaps summed up the aggregate feeling of the squad.
The tweet thread reads: “We are disappointed with the result of Saturday’s game. Our heads are bowed and spirits low because we didn’t make our fans proud or happy.
“We’ve resolved to bounce back quickly, learn from this defeat, get better & stronger. We take this as a WAKE UP CALL, not a DEATH SENTENCE.”
And in a show of sportsmanship, congratulated the opposition.
“We congratulate @BafanaBafana on their victory.”
