It’s A Bad Decision to Hire An Expatriate Coach for Super Eagles – James Peters

Former Super Eagles coach James Peters has criticized the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for its decision to search for and hire a foreign technical adviser for the Senior Men’s National team.

Peters in an interview with Brila.net, described it as a “bad move”, and argued that it was unfair to blame Finidi George for poor results when the right environment was not provided for him to succeed.

“I think it’s a very bad decision. I don’t think I buy that idea. There are great coaches in this country,” Peters said. “The young ones are off. If Finidi didn’t do well, I won’t blame Finidi because the time he got the job and the kind of players we have were not the kind of people we need to put in that qualification series. The component of the management, the component of the whole NFA (NFF) is the problem.”

The former Gaffer also questioned the quality of football administrators in Nigeria stating, “Who are football people there? It’s not the fault of the coaches, it’s the administration.”
