NPFL Group A leaders, Bendel Insurance ended their four games winless run with a hard fought 2-1 win over El Kanemi Warriors, on Saturday.

Monday Odigie’s side have not tasted victory since the restart of the league, drawing all of their four games.

It was looking like another stalemate at the Samuel Ogbemudia’s Stadium as the first half ended without a goal.

The team however switched gears after the resumption and took the lead in the 54th minute, through Ismael Seriki.

The Benin Arsenal doubled their advantage four minutes later, this time, with a fine finish from Austin Ogunye.

El-Kanemi refused to throw in the towel and won a deserved penalty in the 69th minute. Hussaini Mohammed made no mistake from the spot.

The visitors pressed for a leveller, but Insurance held on to their lead till the end.
