Nigeria Teenage fencer, Inkosi Brou has secured Nigeria’s first medal at the 2025 African Junior Fencing Championships in Luanda, Angola.
The young athlete, who is the grandson of former NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Dora Akunyili, continues to make waves on the international stage.
Brou’s latest achievement follows his recent participation in the Almaty Saber FIE Junior World Cup from February 14 to 16, where he gained valuable experience before heading to Angola.
Representing Nigeria from the diaspora, Brou displayed exceptional skill and determination to put Nigeria on the continental fencing map.
Nigeria’s Rising Presence in International Fencing
Nigeria’s presence in fencing is growing, with young talents like Brou and Peluola Akinbamiro showcasing the country’s potential.
Unfortunately, Akinbamiro faced a setback when she missed her first bout due to a last-minute schedule change that was not properly communicated.
Despite this, she remained focused and determined to compete at her best.
Nigerian Fencing Federation (NFF) Celebrates Historic Medal
Speaking on Brou’s accomplishment, Nigerian Fencing Federation (NFF) president, Adeyinka Samuel, praised his dedication and progress:
