Victor Osimhen faces a setback as he will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks due to an ankle injury.
The Nigeria Football Federation disclosed that Osimhen will miss the crucial qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, opting instead for treatment to recover from his setback.
Concerns over the Forward’s fitness arose following an ankle ligament sprain sustained during Napoli’s encounter with Bologna earlier this month.
Despite missing subsequent training sessions and a match against Fiorentina, Osimhen made a return for Napoli’s final game of the season against Lecce.
However, the latest reports indicate that the 25-year-old has aggravated his injury, prolonging his absence from the field.
Super Eagles coach Finidi George has called upon Enugu Rangers’ left-back Kenneth Igboke to fill the void.
