Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke has made history by becoming the first Nigerian player to score for Sevilla FC in an official match.

This milestone came during a recent La Liga encounter against Valladolid, where Ejuke’s goal in the 85th minute secured Sevilla’s second league win of the season.

Ejuke joined Sevilla from CSKA Moscow after an impressive loan stint with Royale Antwerp, becoming the first Nigerian to sign for the club.

With the match tied at 1-1, Ejuke capitalized on a defensive error from Valladolid, calmly slotting the ball home from close range for his first goal in six appearances for the club.

Reflecting on this milestone, Ejuke expressed his excitement, noting,

“I feel very good and happy. It’s an important victory for the team. It’s incredible to score in front of the fans; it’s an incredible feeling, and it’s also incredible to win. I’m very happy,” he told Sevilla FC’s official media after the match.

While Ejuke celebrated his success, Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla months later, struggled to make an impact as he came on as a substitute during the match.

Looking ahead, Sevilla is set to face Athletic Bilbao in their next La Liga fixture. Ejuke will aim to build on his performance, while Iheanacho will hope to open his goal account for Valladolid as he continues to settle into his new team.
