In the lead up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro remains resolute in his decision to keep Francis Uzoho as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The 25-year-old’s recent performance has sparked debates, with critics pointing to errors in the Eagles’ friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in October.
Uzoho, performed woefully, resulting in an unfortunate own goal as the Super Eagles played out a 2-2 draw with Roberto Mancini’s men.
Addressing the media in a pre-match press conference at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday, Peseiro expressed unwavering support for the under fire goalkeeper.
“Uzoho is our goalkeeper, Okoye, Ojo, Amas and Adeleye are our goalkeepers,” Peseiro said.
“I am not stupid, I want to play the best players, but it is my confidence.”
