I’m happy to be a part of Sparta Rotterdam – Okoye

Maduka Okoye says he is happy to be at Sparta Rotterdam, after ending just concluded 2020-2021 Dutch Eredivisie season on a positive note.

Okoye was in goal for Sparta Rotterdam as they wrapped up their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Feyenoord on Wednesday.

The defeat, however, wasn’t enough to shine off the incredible season the Nigerian international had with the club as he helped the club finished in the top half of the table.

The 21-year-old started the campaign as a backup for Benjamin Van Leer, but in the end, Okoye was worth gold for Sparta.

Okoye who currently running for Eredivisie’s goalkeeper of the year kept ten clean sheets in 27 games and he has been linked with a potential move to league champions Ajax Amsterdam.

Trainer Henk Fraser revealed he does not expect the young goalkeeper to remain at the club next season.

In his appreciation message after the conclusion of the campaign, Okoye said he’s happy with how his season has gone and so delighted to be at the club.

“A great season came to an end last night. Happy to be part of this Club, I thank God almighty for all he has done for me.” he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear where the Super Eagles number will play his club football next season.
