Rangers are the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions for the eighth time after their 2-0 home win against Bendel Insurance on Sunday.
After guiding Rangers to the title, head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu declared that his side are worthy champions, with one game left to play and a healthy five-point gap from the nearest challengers.
In a post-match interview following the win, Ilechukwu said, “It was a great game against a big side like Insurance, but we stuck to our game plan and got the goals that pushed us to the point of becoming Nigeria league champions for the 2023/2024 season.”
“With the results from other centers, I am quite sure that we have done well enough to be crowned the league champions. As we approach the last match of the season against Gombe United, we shall remain focused and work hard, trusting that God will guide us to our desired goals.”
The team will receive the league trophy, medals, and financial rewards after their final match with large number of football dignitaries and stakeholders expected to be present to celebrate the team’s achievement.
