Heartland FC ended a 10-game winless run against neighbours Abia Warriors at the weekend with a 1-0 victory in the NPFL.
The result brought the teams level on points in the table, but a derby victory long overdue, according to Heartland head Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.
“Records are meant to be broken and am glad we did just that,” Ilechukwu told brila.net.
He also confirmed the club has signed a few players to bolster the squad and expressed hope the team will grow stronger.
“We brought a few players and we want to do everything to stabilize this team; in the past we’ve struggled.
“The team was relegated and has battled relegation every now and then, but we want to make sure we change that and hopefully the players will gel quickly and we can have a solid team.”
