Newly appointed coach of NPFL side Heartland FC of Owerri Fidelis Ilechukwu has opened up on the reason behind his decision to join Heartland FC.
Ilechukwu’s move to the Owerri-based side will be his first professional career move as a coach ending his 13 years stay with MFM FC where he grew into coaching as a member of the technical crew, assistant coach and finally the club’s first-team coach.
Ilechukwu speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the move for him had become necessary as he felt it was time for him to embrace fresh and tougher challenges after spending so many years with MFM FC and was already looking like a comfort zone.
He admitted the enormity of the task before him and how clearly he must get the result so as to bring stability to a club with a rich pedigree in Nigerian club football.
“I feel like I am growing and I want to take another challenge because it looks as if I am in a comfort zone and that’s how I am seeing myself been in a comfort zone.
“I do hear a lot of things that is happening with state teams but I believe I can take tough challenges as well. Coming to this place, I know that it is not going to be easy at all but I know that by God grace, I will deliver and when there is result, everybody is going to be calm.”
