Former Super Eagles striker Victor Nosa Ikpeba has heaped praises on the management of Nigeria professional football league side Rangers international of Enugu for how they honor late striker Ifeanyi George.
Rangers Management under the leadership of Davison Owumi announced twenty (20) million naira insurance compensation for the immediate family of the late striker who passed on back in March last week.
A few days later, Rangers’ management also decided to retire the player’s favorite number 15 jersey as another mark of respect for late forward.
Ikpeba opined that the moves of the Club’s leadership are commendable and deserved praise from the public.
” I want to commend Rangers international for the Insurance cover of their late striker. That is the way to go and it shows the level of the man in charge, Davidson Owumi ably supported by Enugu State Govt. Owumi was a player and knows what it is to take good care of his players.” he said.
Before his death, Ifeayin George played for Nigeria professional football league champions Enyimba, before joining Rangers international where he became a cult hero.
He was part of the squad that won the famous 2018 Aiteo Cup for the Flying Antelope at Stephen Keshi’s Stadium in Asaba.
The game against Kano Pillars was tagged as the greatest match in the history of the competition after Rangers came from three goals deficit to draw level and then won the match via penalty shoot out.
George who died aged 26, was able to earn two senior caps for Nigeria during his life.
