Ik Uche pleased with Chukwueze’s improvement at Villareal

Former Villareal of Spain forward Ikechukwu Uche says he is pleased with Samuel Chukwueze’s growth at the club, insisting the 20-year-old has what it takes to be a great player.

Chukwueze was one of the break-out stars of the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile, where he walked away with the Bronze Boot.

The skillful winger joined Villareal’s youth set-up in 2017 and made his senior debut in a Europa League clash against Glasgow Rangers.

The Diamond Football Academy product has gone on to rack up 68  appearances, netting 12 times in the process.

Speaking in an Instagram live session on Brila FM, Uche who starred for the Yellow Submarines between 2011 and 2015 believes Chukwueze is a bundle of talent and will fulfill his potential provided he remains consistent.

“He’s a cool kid, he’s good and doing very well at Villareal,” the 2013 AFCON winner told brila.net.

“We just have to help him, and if there’s anything we need to tell him, we will surely do because we got to this stage by listening to people who have been there before us.”

“And I think with the way he’s going, he would become one of the best players of his generation.”

On the international scene, Chukwueze who made his Eagles debut in an international friendly against Uganda in 2018 was part of the Super Eagles team that clinched bronze at last AFCON in Egypt.
