In a positive development for the Super Eagles, Kelechi Iheanacho is available for Nigeria’s second group a game in the Africa Cup of Nation, against Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday.
Iheanacho arrived Abidjan on the eve of Nigeria’s opening game against Equatorial Guinea, but did not play even though he was named in the matchday squad.
The Super Eagles forced their opponents to a 1-1 draw and must now avoid defeat against the host to keep hopes of a second round progress alive.
Meanwhile, Iheanacho has been active in the Super Eagles training session and head Coach Jose Peseiro has been impressed with the forward’s fitness despite missing several weeks of action.
His performance in recent training sessions indicate that he has fully recovered and is eager to contribute to the team’s success.
Peseiro now has the option of four strikers for Thursday’s match with the availability of Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu and Terem Moffi.
