Odion Ighalo was on target as Al Hilal kicked start their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 6-1 trashing of Al Jazira on Sunday night.
The Nigerian who was on target in his first practice game for the club has now netted on competive debut for the Asian Champions.
Abdoulay Diaby gave Al Jazira shocking lead after 14 minutes of play, but Ighalo equalised for Al Hilal nine minutes before the break.
With the goal, the former Al-Shabab striker becomes the first Nigerian player to score in the FIFA World Club Cup tournament.
The former Udinese and Watford striker who recently signed for the Asian champions from rivals Al Shabab was replaced by Andre Carrillo in the 75th minute.
Meanwhile, Matheus Pereira, Mohamed Kanno, Salem Al Dawsari, Moussa Marega and Carrillo scored the other goals for the Leonard Jardim’s side.
Al Hilal will now face in the semi-final on Wednesday.
