Odion Ighalo added another goal to his tally in the UEFA Europa League, and what a strike it was to open the scoring for Manchester United as they came through the first leg round of 16 tie 5-0 against LASK Linz in Austria.
Ighalo turned provider for United’s second goal to register his first assist and take his goal contribution to three in his three appearances in the campaign.
The 30 year-old, who joined Manchester United in January, is debuting in the competition and has been an instant hit, helping the club’s bid to win the Competition.
Ighalo has contributed a goal every 75 minutes in the Europa League and has the six highest goal contribution by any United player.
Among Nigerian player’s in the competition, who scored a goal Ighalo is the second on the list behind Umar Sadiq.
Sadiq played for Partizan Belgrade in the group stages of the competition, scoring 4 goals and 2 assists.
The former AS Roma player tops the top Nigerian performer, based on goals contribution in this season’s Europa League.
