Odion Ighalo played a part as Premier league giant, Manchester United recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield United during their premier league matchday 31 at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Ighalo expectedly was named among the substitutes, but he was introduced with ten minutes left to play in the encounter.
The 30-year-old former Super Eagles forward is still searching for his first league goal for the Red Devils since he arrived from China in January.
Ighalo was lively when he came on, he won a corner for United after skipping past two defenders on the left-hand side, but Sheffield goalkeeper came out to bundle the ball over to the corner.
Ighalo was later presented with a big chance of breaking his league duck for United when Luke Shaw played a perfect cross on to his path, Ighalo, however, was let down by his poor first touch, before racing to beat the goalkeeper from a tight angle and only for slam the ball against Sheffield United defender.
Meanwhile French striker Anthony Martial scored United’s three-goal as they extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions.
Martial opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes through a nice goal from after brilliant combining well with Marcus Rashford.
The French international forward added another to make it 2-0 at the closing stage of the first half following a brilliant assist from Wan Bissaka.
He then completed his first senior professional career hattrick in the second half after another one-two pass with Rashford and the Frenchman chip the ball over Sheffield’s goalkeeper.
Man United are now two points behind fourth-place Chelsea on the EPL table, but the Blues will take on Manchester City on Thursday.
