Nigeria forward Ifeoma Onumonu extended her scoring run to five consecutive matches, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Montpellier from suffering a 4-2 defeat at Dijon in Saturday’s French women’s top-flight clash.
The game kicked off with an early lead for Montpellier as Marie Levasseur scored in the 5th minute. However, Dijon quickly responded, with Viktoria Pinther equalizing in the 29th minute.
Just two minutes later, Malgorzata Grec put the hosts ahead for the first time in the match.
Klaudia Jeslinska extended Dijon’s advantage early in the second half, making it 3-1 in the 54th minute.
However, Onumonu, in the 75th minute, scored to make it 3-2 and scoring her fifth consecutive goal for Montpellier, which includes goals for both club and country.
Dijon sealed the win in the 81st minute with a goal from Meriame Terchoun.
Onumonu, who played the full 90 minutes, now has six goals in nine league appearances and has also registered an assist.
Montpellier remain in fifth place with 16 points after 10 games, ahead of their next match against Fleury 91 on December 14.
