Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers expressed his satisfaction after scoring a crucial equalizer in the team’s 1-1 draw with Dinamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Dessers netted a dramatic 94th-minute goal in Lublin, securing a point for Rangers. Reflecting on the moment, Dessers emphasized the importance of perseverance as a striker.
“As a striker, you have to believe, even if it is an impossible ball or you don’t think it will fall. I knew it was the last ball into the box in the game, and that was the case. I was happy to be on the end of it,” he told BBC Scotland.
Despite facing criticism for missed opportunities in previous matches, Dessers remains focused on his role.
“I don’t have to answer people. I’m just doing my job for the team, for the manager, and for myself. That’s the only thing that matters,” he said.
“It would be nice to get more recognition for what you do, but I get the recognition inside the building, and that’s the most important thing.”
Acknowledging the mixed reactions from fans and media, Dessers noted, “There are always reactions from the media and a small part of the support, but I feel a lot of love from a bigger part of the fanbase.” He concluded.
