Super Eagles and Valencia striker Sadiq Umar expressed his delight after making his debut for Los Ches in their 2-0 win over CD Eldense in the Copa del Rey round of 32 on Tuesday night.
The Nigeria international, who joined Valencia on loan for the remainder of the season, came off the bench in the second half. While he didn’t score, his performance caught the eye of head coach Carlos Corberán.
Speaking after the match, Sadiq revealed his determination to make a lasting impact at Valencia.
“I needed a game like this, I want to give it continuity, because unfortunately I hadn’t scored for a year and I want to change that, because I want to be an important player at Valencia,” Sadiq stated.
The 26-year-old also discussed working with Corberán, highlighting the positive atmosphere within the team.
“We’ve had little time with him, but we’re a young group that wants to learn and improve—and we want to improve now. The fans can be excited about the Cup,” he added.

Sadiq remains optimistic about the team’s prospects despite Valencia’s struggles in the league.
“We’ve had little time with him, but we’re a young group that wants to learn and improve and we want to improve now. The fans can be excited about the Cup,” he noted.
Valencia’s win over Eldense marked their first victory in six games across all competitions. They will aim to build on this momentum when they face Sevilla on Saturday in La Liga.
