I Can Face Any Opponent, NPFL Made Me Tough – Igboke

  • Kenneth Igboke earned his first Super Eagles call up

  • Igboke and Osayi will battle for places in the Left-back position

  • The 23 year-old believes the NPFL is a tough league

New Super Eagles invitee, Kenneth Igbokwe has declared himself mentally ready for his first cap, if selected by head coach Finidi George to play in this Friday’s World Cup Qualifying match against South Africa.

Igboke, who was called up as replacement for Victor Osimhen after the forward pulled out of the qualifiers due to an injury, is motivated to prove he deserves a spot.

Finidi will make a decision on who starts in left back in either games against South Africa and Benin Republic also following the injury to Ola Aina.

The Super Eagles coach has the options of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey and Igboke to start in the LB position.

Speaking to brila.net, the Igboke stressed that the experience gathered by playing in the NPFL has given him enough confidence to face any opponent regardless.

“The kind of games I’ve played in the NPFL have given me the confidence to face any opponent,” Igbokwe stated.

“I don’t see any game as particularly tough. This game might be different from our regular league matches, but my confidence from playing in the NPFL carries over.”

Igbokwe, who is earning his first call-up to the national team, emphasized his mental readiness and adaptability.

“Whether I start or come off the bench, I am prepared to give my best. The coach’s decision won’t affect my performance. I focus on playing my game and not getting distracted by external talk.”
