Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets has been eliminated from the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil after going down 1-3 to the Netherlands in their Round of 16 clashes in Goiania on Wednesday.
While Nigeria qualified for the Round of 16 as the Group winners, Dutch was one of the tournament best losers but produced a complete dominance performance to shock the five-time Champions.
Sontje Hansen gave the Dutch the lead in the fourth minute before Olakunle Olusegun’s goal in the 12 minutes restored parity.
Hansen got his second of the game in the 15th minute. A poorly cleared ball fell at the feet of the gifted Hansen at the edge of the box, and he let fly a rasping drive that goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu had no answer to.
11 minutes from time, the Dutch hot their third through Hansen, after the Video Assistant Referee spotted a handball by Clement Ikenna, and Hansen swept the ball past Jinadu for Netherlands’ third goal and his hattrick.
