How Atsimene’s brace gave Warri Wolves massive away win in Lafia

Warri Wolves stunned Nasarawa United in the match day 16 of this season’s Nigeria professional football league season.

The Delta State based team beat Nasarawa United 1-2 to at the Lafia City Stadium in thanks to brace from Charles Atsimene.

 

The Solid Miners defeated Dakkada away in match day 15, but failed to sustain the momentum, when Warri Wolves came visiting.

 

The first chance of the game fell to Nasarawa Into in the 13th minute when Anas Yusuf’s shot was spilled by Wolves keeper, Godwin Ameh. Esosa Igbinoba, however, hit the rebound wide.

 

Moment later Nasarawa United’s goalkeeper Danlami parried Dikoo’s into the path of Atsimene, who finished off without hesitation in the 26th minute.

 

Warri Wolves should have doubled their lead when, Oluwasegun Olalere send a  dangerous cross from the left,  Danlami again couldn’t deal with it and allowed Atsimene to get at the end of it , bit failed to hit the target.

 

In the 59th minute, Atsimene missed from open goal when he shot wide after been set up by Williams Sunday.

 

The hosts earned a penalty in the 70th minute when Olalere handled the ball in the box. Abubakar Lawal sent Ameh the wrong way from the spot.

 

Wolves were however regained their lead in the 84th minute, in the 90th minute when Atsimene nodded in Dikoo’s cross.

 

The result ensured take Wolves away from the relegation zone while Nasarawa remain in the drop zone.
