Home-based national team defender Ebube Duru has stated that the camp of Nigeria’s home-based Eagles remains optimistic about the chances of the team despite the heavy 4-1 bashing suffered in the hands of their host Togo.
Ebube speaking in a chat with brila.net ahead of the team’s departure admitted the day been bad for Nigeria but not losing hope at all as to what the team can do. He added that Nigeria will still qualify for the CHAN notwithstanding the major set back from the first leg.
“We have every assurance and every hope to get back at them when they come to Nigeria on the 19th of October 2019.
“It was a very sad day for us and an unexpected result though they were favoured by the referee making some wrong decisions against us, going them some decision that helped them in getting their goals even the penalty they awarded them was a wrong decision.
“We had quite two penalties that they denied us. It was very sad day for us because the result is nothing to talk about but since there is a second leg, it’s another chance for us to bounce back and I know by God grace we are going to win them and qualify for the CHAN.”
