Super Eagles third assistant coach Usman Abdallah has stated that the home and away mentality to league games in Nigeria played a major role in the failure of the home-based Super Eagles to secure a ticket to the 2023 Africa Nations Championship after the team’s performance in regulation time to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit before losing out on penalties.
Abdallah speaking in a chat with brila.net stressed that the team posted a performance that would have been enough had they been able to replicate such in the first leg which wouldn’t have set them back from going to the second leg game in Abuja.
He added that there is the need to have a mind shift in domestic league players with regards to playing and winning anywhere.
