Lazio head coach Marco Baroni has praised Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru for his energy, physicality, and versatility, emphasizing the 23-year-old’s importance to the team.
Speaking to Fanta Calcio ahead of Lazio’s UEFA Europa League clash against Ludogorets, Baroni expressed his admiration for Dele-Bashiru’s growing influence at the club.
“Dele has a lot of energy,” Baroni said. “He is a midfielder who can play all over the pitch. He has quality, energy, and physical strength.
I see him during training, he will be an important player for us.”
However, Dele-Bashiru’s participation in Thursday’s game remains uncertain, as the midfielder is recovering from a minor injury.
Baroni revealed that the player’s fitness is still under evaluation, alongside a few other squad members.
“We have to evaluate him,” Baroni explained. “He had a very small problem, today we have 2-3 players that I have to evaluate.
If he is well he will be in the game. I do not contemplate the thought that one of my teams could underestimate a match, it does not exist.”
Baroni emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and not underestimating their opponents.
“We are playing in the Europa League, it is the most important match in front of our fans, we must move on from a great performance tomorrow too. We can and must do it,” he added.
The coach also mentioned other injury concerns, including Mattia Zaccagni and Alessio Romagnoli, both of whom need further evaluation.
Dele-Bashiru has been making a name for himself with impressive performances in Europe and will hope to recover in time to feature in the showdown against Ludogorets.
His energy and adaptability remain vital for Lazio’s ambitions this season.
