Hire Nigerian Coaches for Super Eagles – Amoo
118
Former Flying Eagles head coach, Fatai Amoo has voiced his support for the appointment of an Indigenous coach to lead the Super Eagles.
Amoo advocated for a consortium of local coaches to address the team’s needs.
He also stressed the need for Nigerian coaches to get fair opportunities and support in their roles.
“We have our challenges from this part of the world. You cannot have people like Daniel Amokachi who has assisted late Amodu Shuaibu, later Stephen Keshi to a successful degree in terms of achievements and you still don’t want to look at him as somebody who can do something. Of course, it means you are not trying to recognize what your own people can do,” Amoo told Brila.net.
“I don’t need to mention myself as an idea of what is happening there. Because some people say experience is not bought but then looking at it you have a lot of people. Sylvanus Okpala came out the other time, people were shouting that it can’t be. I don’t know why it can’t be because not only was he a player, he is a qualified coach; managed in Nigeria, and he has been with the national team.”
“So, if you look at those who have done that and they are still coaching, there’s no point to not bring them together to do the job to get the substantive coach.”
“So, I am towing the line that we should get Nigerian indigenous coaches,” Amoo stated.
