Henry Onyekuru off to tough start in the League with Anderlecht

Life in Belgium for a second season may just end up being disappointing for Henry Onyekuru who started his season long loan spell at Anderlecht on the bench in the goalless result against Antwerp on Friday.

The 20-year-old who joined the Belgian champions on loan after signing for Everton was reduced to a spectators role on the Paars-wit bench.

Onyekuru scored 25 goals last season for KAS Eupen and was touted to move to bigger things with rumors linking him to the likes of Arsenal and Dortmund.

Although the Nigerian forward scored in his first match for Anderlecht, coming off the bench in a pre season game against Lierse.

He went on to feature in two other matches including the Super Cup against Zulte Waregem.

But the numbers have not been good. Onyekuru has been reduced to sub roles at a time when he needs to get regular game time and improve his chances of returning to Everton.

The Forward’s only 90 minutes football for the club came in a 3-1 pre season win against amateur Belgian side, Dender.
