Pundits, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richard have reacted to the row between Napoli and their star forward Victor Osimhen.
The trio in the CBS Sport Studio discussed the TikTok video posted on the Napoli’s official page, mocking the player for missing penalty and calling him a coconut.
The three ex players unanimously agreed the video was offensive and should not have found it way to the public.
“I don’t get the idea behind, trolling your player for missing a penalty and putting a black guy side by side to a coconut is ridiculous.”
“Yes, we can’t we say the whole Napoli did that, or one person, but for that to out, it is embarrassing ” Richards former England international and Man City full back said.
Carragher also called out the Serie A for letting the player down.
“I’ve never seen that before, the social media has been used to unveil players, and do other things, but not ridiculing your own player for missing a penalty. I’ve never seen that before “.
When asked if Napoli’s action was racial, Henry, the new French U21 gaffer said :
“It’s wrong on every level,” Henry started.
“What are we talking about? First of all, it is your own team…this is what you do to your own player?”
“It was not reaction, the person at and thought about the idea”
“Then yes, it is, do your due diligence…Yes it is racist, what are you doing?”
Osimhen was in action for Napoli in their 2-3 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
