Henrikh Mkhitaryan hails Manchester United’s £145m signings

Armenia attacker, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has hailed the recruitment of Two of Manchester United’s new boys, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, the duo’s performance caught the eye in Sunday’s opening 4-0 Premier League thrashing of West Ham.

Lukaku, a £75million buy from Everton, scored the opening two goals while midfielder Matic, bought for £40m from Chelsea, was named man of the match.

The third recruit, £30m defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica, was not included in the matchday squad as manager Jose Mourinho wants to give the Swede more time to settle.

And asked initially about Matic’s display, Mkhitaryan said: “It was not only Matic. I want to mention as well the other two new signings, Lindelof and Lukaku.

“They are very good players. They are, I think, Manchester United players. Matic does a big job on the pitch. He tries to recover all the balls. He defensively does a big job.

“Lukaku scored his goals and Lindelof is still going to have time to show himself. So I want to say all the players are good signings and they are going to help us a lot.”

Matic was key to helping Chelsea to the Premier League title last season and Mkhitaryan admits he is surprised the Blues decided to sell him.

“Actually I am (surprised),” the Armenia international added. “But at the same time I am very happy that we have got him.”
