In a disappointing turn of events for Team Nigeria, medal hopeful and world record holder Tobi Amusan has failed to secure a spot in the Olympic final of the 100m hurdles.

Starting in lane 6, the reigning world champion finished 3rd in her semifinal heat with a time of 12.55 seconds, which was not enough to advance to the final.

Despite a slow start, Amusan managed to pick up her pace but ultimately fell short, finishing 9th overall in the semifinals.

The day has been tough for Team Nigeria, as earlier, the men’s 4x400m relay team was disqualified for a lane violation after initially qualifying for the final.

With hopes of a medal fading, Team Nigeria continues to search for a breakthrough as time runs out.
