Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has backed Calvin Bassey to rediscover his form, saying the 22-year-old remain a quality player.
Bassey has been under heavy scrutiny from Ajax fans and legends, since signing for the club from Glasgow Rangers last summer.
The defender was dropped from starting XI by caretaker boss Jonny Heitinga, although he did came on in the second half against Waalwijk last weekend.
The defender assisted one goal as Ajax came from behind to win 3-1.
“He has been criticized many times, but I’ll advise him to listen to his coach and play to instructions. I’ve watched him at the national team few times, he has the talents to do well”, Taribo said while Speaking to BrilaFM
On what Bassey has to do to win over the fans, The former AC and Inter Milan man said:
“He doesn’t have to listen to the fans as they’ll always have their opinions, but he must work hard in training, stay committed and dedicated,
“He is a young and quality defender.” He concluded.
Bassey has has three assists and one goal in eighteen appearances for the Dutch Champions this season.
