Bayer Leverkusen head coach, Xabi Alonso insists Victor Boniface has more to offer, despite his strong start to the season.
Boniface scored twice and provided an assist in Leverkusen’s commanding 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday, bringing his goal contributions to four in five games across all competitions.
“He can and must do more. He knows it, and the team needs it,” Alonso told German media.
Boniface’s second goal against Hoffenheim left fans on the edge of their seat, cutting inside a defender before unleashing a power drive with his left foot.
“It’s always difficult for defenders to play against him.Boniface’s second goal, is very important for the striker’s confidence and mood.”
Boniface’s performance helped extend Leverkusen’s unbeaten away run in the Bundesliga to 19 games, the second-longest streak in the league’s history.
