For a body that issues a Press Release when a member of staff is conferred a chieftaincy title or holds a thanksgiving service for same, you’d think that the Nigeria Football Federation’s communication team will hasten to any of its social media platform to celebrate a foot soldier, who puts himself in the firing line when called upon for national duty.
On June 8, 2017 Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme turned 31 and whilst he’s away from the team – only because of some bloody injury – he’s been so characteristically jettisoned by @thenff or even @NGSuperEagles.
So there was a media parley on the said day, but it surely did not run for 24 hours.
Yet, whether by error of omission – what ever that means – this is a classic NFF move whether intentional or not.
On a bright note though, teammate, William Troost-Ekong did not forget, although he’s in Uyo sweating it out ahead of Saturday’s Afcon qualifier against South Africa.
The 23-year-old (born September 1) tweeted:”Happy Birthday to the big bro @Carl_Ikeme 🎉🎉”

Well, let’s hope a happy belated isn’t so out of place.
