Halimatu Ayinde Clinch 2024 Damallsvenskan Title with Rosengard

Halimatu Ayinde and her club, Rosengard, secured the 2024 Swedish Damallsvenskan title after a 2-1 victory over Kristianstad.

With four games to spare, Rosengard’s triumph also confirmed their place in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Rebecca Knaak was the hero of the match, scoring twice at Malmo IP. Knaak opened the scoring in the 19th minute and then doubled the lead after an assist from Momoko Tanikawa.

Although Kristianstad’s Tilda Sanden pulled one back for the visitors, it wasn’t enough to stop Rosengard’s victory.

Rosengard’s title win was sealed after second-placed Hammarby played to a 0-0 draw with Linkoping, leaving Rosengard with an unassailable 17-point lead at the top of the table.

Rosengard now have 66 points, while Hammarby trails with 49.

This is Ayinde’s second league title with Rosengard. Unfortunately, she was unavailable for the match due to a knee injury that has ruled her out for the rest of the season and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Before her injury, Ayinde had scored one goal in 12 league appearances.
