Antoine Griezmann will still cost £88m after he refuses Atletico from raising his buyout clause.
After reaffirming his desire to stay with Atletico Madrid this summer, Antoine Griezmann has signed a new deal, keeping it at the club until 2022.
Even with a whooping pay cheque estimated to worth about €14million, meaning he could be receiving £235,000 in a week, the Frenchman still refuses the club from raising up his buyout clause.
Griezmann upset fans earlier this summer when he said there was a 6/10 chance that he would join Manchester United at the end of the 2016/17 season. The Frenchman has now backtracked on his wishes to leave when Atleti’s transfer ban was upheld.
“It would be a bad move to go now.” Greizmann said, after the FIFA ban on registering new players was curtailed.
He will be Atletico Madrid’s star player as they go into their new stadium and the deal makes him Atletico Madrid’s top earner and the fourth in the La Liga after Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
