Golden Eaglets goalkeeper, Daniel Jinadu signs first professional West Ham contract

The duo of Jinadu Daniel and Joshua Okotcha have put pen to paper for their first professional contract with Premier League side West Ham United.

The Nigerian duo joined the other five players from the academy to signed contract extension with the Hammer Youth side.

 

While Okocha who is a defender is eligible to represent England or Nigeria, Daniel Jinadu has donn the green and white jersey of Nigeria at the U-17 level.

 

The shot-stopper completed three games for Nigeria U17s at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup hosted by Brazil last year.

 

Meanwhile the Lead coach of Hammers U18s, Kelvin described Okotcha and Jinadu as good players.

 

On Jinadu Daniel, He said: “Daniel Jinadu has spent a lot of time training with the U23s this season. He came in and played five U18s games in goal, including saving a penalty against Aston Villa in December. He’s a very consistent, hard-working, and intelligent goalkeeper.

 

Keen also praised Okotcha who captained the team last season.

 

“Joshua Okotcha was the U18s captain last year. He’s someone who is always extremely conscientious of working on his game and getting better. He’s a good, big, strong central defender, and I look forward to seeing how far he can progress in the future.” he said.

 

Apart from Jinadu and Okotcha, other players who signed a new deal with the club are midfielder Keenan Appiah-Forson; defender Harrison Ashby; defender Sam Caiger; midfielder Dan Chester’s and defender Will Greenidge.

 

These players are now expected to move into the U23s squad in the coming days and continue their development.
