Gent boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck is full of praises for his Nigerian star Gift Orban after another scintillating performance last weekend.
Orban has become one of the hottest football properties in Europe at the moment a few months after arriving from Norway.
The forward now has 19 goals in games across all competitions for the Buffalos since January and has attracted interest from big sides in Europe.
The 20-year-old is spearheading Gent’s charge for European football next season, netting five goals in three playoff games, including a hat-trick against Cercle Brugge last Saturday.
“Gift was a risk to attract him at such a young age,” says his coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck at Het
Nieuwsblad.
“If he had started with us with the lesser period he had recently, there might have been a reaction from the public or people around that he wasn’t enough.
“He knew the luck that he immediately flamed them in. Then you can already known a lesser period.
Now he has started again. Gift is a phenomenon.”
Orban is Genk’s top scorer across all competitions this season, despite joining during winter transfer.
