Ghana’s CHAN team head coach, Annor Walker has dismissed reports suggesting that the Black Stars might approach Nigeria to use the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for their upcoming home matches.
This speculation arose following the disqualification of the Baba Yara Stadium by CAF, which deemed it unfit to host international matches.

In response to these reports, Walker clarified that there have been no discussions regarding Nigeria as a potential host venue.

“Honestly, if not for you mentioning it now, I haven’t even heard that they are considering playing in Nigeria,” Walker stated.

He further explained that while alternatives outside Ghana have been considered, such as Ivory Coast, Benin, and Togo, Nigeria was not specifically mentioned as a possible venue.

Walker emphasized that the priority remains on preparing one of Ghana’s own stadiums in time for their crucial match against Sudan next month.

“They are saying we play outside the country like Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Togo, but specifically they have not mentioned Nigeria that we’ll play our match in Nigeria.”

“The national sports council is working on getting one of our stadia ready. Whatever needs to be done, they have to do it so that we’ll be able to play our match against Sudan next month,” Walker concluded.
