Getafe Targets Loan Move for Umar Sadiq

Spanish club Getafe is reportedly considering a loan move for Real Sociedad’s Nigerian striker, Umar Sadiq for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Sadiq who joined Real Sociedad from Almeria in the summer of 2022 for €20 million, is now surplus to requirement.

The Super Eagles forward
made an impressive start in the 2022/23 season, scoring three goals in his first five matches, however, his momentum was halted by a severe injury that sidelined him for 11 months.

Upon his return in the 2023/24 season, Sadiq struggled to regain his form, scoring just two goals and starting only 12 of the club’s 36 La Liga games.

The 27-year-old forward has been reduced to the bench role, managing just 22 minutes on the field in the last seven games.

With his future at Real Sociedad appearing uncertain, Football Espana reported on Wednesday that Sadiq is likely to leave the club.

Getafe’s interest in Sadiq comes as a response to the departure of Enes Unal, who left for Premier League club AFC Bournemouth during the winter transfer window, making the Nigerian a priority target for Getafe manager Jose Bordalas.
