Gent boss reveals why Gift Orban lost his starting belt

Gent boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck has revealed the reason Gift Orban got a cameo appearance during his side’s 1-1 draw with Union Saint-Gilloise at the Ghemlaco Arena.

Orban was among the substitutes and got a taste of action with just four minutes left in the game after replacing  Malick Fofana.

The decision summed up the player’s frustration at the Club, saying he’s not get the minutes he deserved.

In a chat with the media, Vanhaezebrouck explained how Orban lost his place in the starting line up.

“He was hit by Delaney and was in the rag for two weeks, so he was only able to train for two days.

“If he is fit in training, then we will see who plays. But how many goals has he already scored this season? And a striker does more than just score goals.

The Belgian gaffer also questioned the worth ethic of the Nigerian forward .

“Do you think we would get four chances thanks to pressing with Gift Orban on the field? He has trained for two days, you have to stay serious.

“Tarik Tissoudali misses a few open chances, but he does help create those chances. By putting pressure, by making an action. Not many teams can afford a striker who only kicks in by hitting the right place.”

Orban has only played one full 90 minutes since August and  has started just 6 games in the Jupiler Pro League this season.
