RUSSIA 2018: Eze, Gabriel good enough for Eagles’ World Cup squad – Lawal

EX-International, Garba Lawal, has backed  2018 CHAN Eagles stars, Stephen Eze and Gabriel Okechukwu to cement their Super Eagles places with good performances.

Lawal agreed that their inclusion in the team was a welcome development and it will encourage more local league players to dream.

“Okechukwu Gabriel and Stephen Eze call-ups have justified the huge investment on the Chan Eagles,” said Garba Lawal.

“The two players really impressed me during the CHAN and now being part of the Super Eagles have justified the money spent on the home-based Eagles.

“It is also a welcome development that they are given a chance to prove themselves.”

He specially praised Akwa United striker Gabriel, who scored the match winners against Angola and Sudan at the CHAN in Morocco.

“He is such a talented player who will go places. I admire his techniques and a good eye for goals, but he needs to do more if he really wanted to make the World Cup final squad,” he remarked.

Big defender Stephen Eze was named on the 2018 CHAN XI and he has since taken his game to Bulgaria following the competition in Morocco.
