Galatasaray legend, Tanju Çolak has singled out Victor Osimhen as the Best Player of the Season, rating him above Spanish striker Alvaro Morata in the club’s current campaign.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in red-hot form since arriving in Istanbul.
The Nigerian forward has netted an impressive 28 goals and provided five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions, firmly establishing himself as a talismanic figure for the Turkish giants.
His contributions have been vital to Galatasaray’s push for silverware this season.
Notably, he played a decisive role in their 2-1 triumph over arch-rivals Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup, scoring the two goals a win that secured their place in the semifinals and kept alive their hopes of a domestic double.
Speaking to Habersarikirmizi, Tanju Çolak praised Osimhen’s leadership, work ethic, and consistent goal-scoring prowess.
“There is a squad in Galatasaray that is loyal to Osimhen. He sets a good example, he scores a lot of goals. Osimhen is the best player of the season,” Çolak stated.
The 26-year-old’s exploits in Turkey have not only reignited his reputation but also reaffirmed his status as one of Europe’s most clinical forwards.
In contrast, the former striker didn’t hold back in his criticism of Alvaro Morata, who joined Galatasaray in January from AC Milan.
Morata has failed to hit the ground running, managing just two goals and one assist in the league.
“Morata does not score goals, he does not fight. If it were me, I would not buy this guy,” Çolak said bluntly.
With a Napoli exit looming in the summer, Osimhen’s outstanding performances in the final stretch of the season could be crucial in shaping his next move.
Reports suggest Napoli may be willing to offer a discount to Manchester United in a bid to finalize a deal for the Super Eagles star.
