Super Eagles defender, Gabriel Osho scored his first goal of the season as AJ Auxerre battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw with RC Lens at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps on Saturday.

The two-cap Nigerian international, who made his Super Eagles debut against Benin last month, delivered a standout performance, rescuing a vital point for his team in dramatic fashion.

Auxerre entered the match desperate to snap a two-game winless streak but faced an early setback when Neil El Aynaoui fired Lens into the lead in the 22nd minute with a composed finish.

However, the hosts responded just nine minutes later, with Gaëtan Perrin finding the back of the net to level the score and reignite hopes of ending their poor run of form.

Despite their renewed momentum, Auxerre were stunned on the stroke of half-time when Lens reclaimed the lead, leaving the home side with an uphill battle in the second half.

Auxerre came out of the tunnel with determination, dominating possession and relentlessly pressing for an equalizer.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 73rd minute when Lassine Sinayoko delivered a pinpoint assist to Gabriel Osho, who calmly slotted the ball home to tie the game at 2-2.

It was a landmark moment for Osho, marking his first Ligue 1 goal since joining Auxerre from English side Luton Town during the summer transfer window.

The central defender had logged 988 minutes across 12 matches before opening his account for the club.

Osho’s impact wasn’t limited to his goal. Defensively, he delivered a commanding performance, recording six clearances, two blocked shots, and four key interceptions to keep Lens at bay.

The 25-year-old’s composure and leadership at the back were pivotal in ensuring Auxerre held on for the draw.
