Fulham manager Marco Silva has expressed confidence that Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi is on the verge of delivering his best-ever campaign in the Premier League.
As the Cottagers gear up for their next fixture against Wolves, Silva highlighted Iwobi’s growing influence on the team and his potential to reach new heights this season.
Fulham entered the international break in fine form, securing back-to-back victories against Brentford (2-1) and Crystal Palace (2-0), a run that elevated them to seventh place on the league table.
At the heart of Fulham’s strong start to the 2024/25 season is the 28-year-old Iwobi, who has contributed two goals and two assists so far.
His creative spark has been pivotal, ranking him among the Premier League’s top chance creators this season, trailing only Dejan Kulusevski, Cole Palmer, and Bernardo Silva in opportunities crafted from open play.
“For me, last season was the best season from him in the Premier League, in my opinion, and I’m sure that he’s going to be better this season,” Silva told Fulham’s official website.
The Portuguese coach, who worked with Iwobi at Everton before bringing him to Fulham, praised the player’s versatility and adaptability.
“I know him very well. I brought him to Everton, and when we got the chance to have him with us here at Fulham, it was a moment for us to go to sign him,” Silva explained.
“First, he is a really versatile player. He can play in many positions, and I know where he’s capable and where he feels he can perform better.
He likes to be in the middle of the pitch, but now he’s playing more on the right, where he’s capable, like he showed against Crystal Palace”
With Silva’s faith in Iwobi’s abilities and the midfielder’s growing confidence, Fulham fans will be hoping to see the Nigerian international reach new heights this season
