Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming friendly against Mali due to an injury he sustained during the recent match against Ghana.

Sources in the Super Eagles camp confirmed that Onyeka picked up the injury during Nigeria’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ghana last Friday.

Following the match, he departed for his club, Brentford, on Sunday to undergo further medical evaluation and treatment on the injury.

Joining Onyeka on the sidelines is Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, who is also grappling with a minor injury concern.

Despite being named in the squad against Ghana, Bassey remained an unused substitute.

Nigeria will face Mali in their next friendly fixture at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday.
